Gemini Live gets video and screen sharing this march

At MWC 2025, Google shared exciting news: Gemini Live will soon let users share live video and their phone screens. These features, powered by Project Astra, will start rolling out later in March. When you open the Gemini overlay on your Android device, you’ll notice a fresh “Share screen with Live” button right above the Ask Gemini text box.

Tap it, and your screen will be shared with Gemini Live. A new phone call-like alert will pop up, showing a small timer next to the clock. This makes it easy to switch back to the full view whenever you want—much simpler than the old way! While sharing, you can ask Gemini questions about what’s on your screen and chat back and forth naturally.

On the other hand, if you open Gemini Live in full-screen mode, you’ll spot a new video option next to the screen-share button. Press it, and a live video feed will fill most of your screen. Google also made a small style change: the round Hold and End buttons are now shaped like little pills.

These upgrades have been in the works since Google first hinted at them in May 2024 at I/O. More details came in December with Gemini 2.0, and we got another peek in January during Samsung’s Galaxy S25 reveal. The new Gemini Live features will be available to Gemini Advanced users with the Google One AI Premium plan on Android phones later this month. If you’re at MWC in Barcelona, you can try them out right now!
