Android 16 Beta 3: ‘80% charge limit’ fully powers your Pixel every 1-2 weeks

With Android 16 Beta 3, Google has made it clearer how the “Limit to 80%” feature works. Now, it fully charges your Pixel to 100% “every one to two weeks.” Before this update, the Charging optimization page had a small note saying your “Phone will sometimes charge to 100% to adjust its battery estimate.” Now, in Android 16 Beta 3, this note is more direct: “Your phone will hit 100% once every one to two weeks to keep battery readings accurate.”

Google first added the 80% charge limit in December with Android 15 QPR1. It’s a hit with people who want their battery to last longer. But some users wish there was a quicker way to switch it off instead of digging into Settings > Battery > Charging optimization. A simple Quick Settings Tile to turn off Adaptive Charging or the 80% limit would be great, especially when you need a full charge—like when you’re traveling.

Also, Android 16 Beta 3 makes it a bit trickier to find Charging optimization. It’s now tucked at the bottom of the Battery health page. This change will likely roll out to everyone in June when the full Android 16 update drops. This tweak shows Google’s focus on balancing battery life and user needs. The 80% limit helps your Pixel stay healthy, while the occasional full charge keeps things running smoothly. What do you think—would a faster toggle for this feature make your life easier?
