Google brings Gemini Nano AI to more Android apps and developers
The Gemini Nano AI technology built by Google is now being used by more developers and included in more Android apps. Gemini Nano is a scaled-down Gemini AI, built for Android phones and capable of working locally without accessing the cloud. It is possible for apps to read you an article or generate content even when you do not have a connection.
Before this, Gemini Nano was only found on the Pixel 8 Pro and Galaxy S24 phones. Starting with Android 15, more phones will be able to run it. Through the AICore system built into Android, developers can build with this new solution. As a result, apps are able to take advantage of AI capabilities on the device more effectively and safely.
To make it easier for developers, Google is adding Gemini Nano support to their ML Kit, which allows them to add AI to their Android applications. With the use of Gemini Nano, it will soon be possible for developers to include features such as automatic smart replies and quick summaries in their chat apps.
Android Studio now includes a brand-new GenAI extension. Developers can use this to test the Gemini Nano before adding it to their applications. They can test Gemini Nano with various inputs and check that it delivers the correct results. It helps in finding any issues that could arise in the AI model.
Overall, it proves that Google is working hard to integrate more advanced AI on smartphones. With better usability and more phone support, Google is now making it easier for developers to make smarter apps.
