Android’s Find My Device could add support for UWB, AR
Google is allegedly working to bring support for UWB technology and AR to Find My Device. The company is sequentially rolling out the Find My Device network to supported Android phones.
AndroidAuthority discovered that Find My Device may get ultra wide band and AR upgrades. Following Apple’s lead, Google could work on using UWB with Find My Device, and it could also spice it up with an AR upgrade.
Find My Device’s v3.1.078-1 contains evidence citing UWB support incoming. The outlet has spotted plenty of mentions of UWBAdapter libraries and numerous other UWB mentions in the APK teardown.
Apart from the ultra wide band, Android Find My Device could soon allow you to use AR too. Code mentions for ARCore support within Find My Device suggests that the company has commenced implementation for ARCore.
It’s worth noting that the application has not yet added any graphical proof regarding UWB or AR. If Google progresses with bringing these two upgrades, it will usher in a new generation of Android trackers.
