Google Phone App gets new sorting options and a fresh look
The Google Phone app is now easier to use with new sorting options for your call history. First off, Google has made the search bar at the top of the app bigger. It stretches across all the tabs and looks more like the style you see in other Google apps, like Gmail.
Below this, there’s a new way to sort your calls. You can choose from different filters like “All,” “Missed,” “Contacts,” “Non-Spam,” and “Spam.” The “Contacts” filter is handy for finding calls from people you know, and even though “Non-Spam” might sound a bit odd, it helps you see calls that aren’t from spammers.
Before and After
The new sorting options do make the app look a bit busy, though. It might be nicer if these options were tucked away under a button, like in Google Contacts, to keep things neat.
The app remembers which filter you used last if you’re jumping between apps or tasks on your phone, but if you leave and come back later, it’ll show all calls by default.
This update, as reported by Android Police, is rolling out today to users with the Google Phone app beta version 159 on their devices.
