Easy data analysis with Gemini in Google Sheets
The new update for Google Sheets makes analyzing your data simpler with the help of Gemini. Now, you can create charts and find insights with ease, right from the side panel.
Getting Insights:
With Gemini, you can quickly spot trends, patterns, and relationships in your data. Just click on the “Analyze for insights” button, and Gemini will do the hard work. It turns your questions into Python code behind the scenes, making it possible to dive deep into your data without you needing to write any code yourself.
Creating Charts:
Gemini can also make charts for you based on the data in your sheet:
- These charts are pictures, not live data, so if you change your numbers, the chart won’t change automatically.
- Once you add a chart to your sheet, you can’t edit it. If you want changes, you’ll have to make a new one.
- For the best charts, Google suggests your data should be organized well, with clear labels and no missing spots. Also, keep your sheet under a million cells for the best performance, and be clear about what you want when you ask.
Real-World Examples:
- A marketing manager might ask, “Show me the best three marketing channels by how many people they convert,” and get a full report with graphs to help decide where to spend marketing dollars.
- A small business owner could say, “Guess my profit for the next three months from past data,” helping them plan for any money problems.
- A financial analyst might find out oddities in stock levels for a specific product by asking, “Look for any strange changes in Product X’s stock levels,” which can help spot supply issues or unusual sales.
