Google’s Search widget might get even easier to use
Google has recently begun updating its search widget with a customizable shortcut button, first seen last year. This feature lets you quickly use tools like a translator, dictionary, finance updates, or song recognition. Right now, you can only set the shortcut to one tool at a time. But, Google might make this even better soon.
They’re designing a new look for the search widget’s shortcut button. Instead of being part of the search bar, it will now be in its own circle on the right side. We saw this new design at the end of last year, and it looks like Google is tweaking it even more. From the latest Google app beta version (16.4.35.sa.arm64 beta), it seems the button might let you access all tools at once.
We’ve activated a new “Multi Shortcuts” feature before its official release, and screenshots show that the old icon has been swapped for a new app grid icon. When you tap this icon, a panel slides up from the bottom with all the tools listed, making the shortcut button much more handy than before. You can check it out in the video below.
This Multi Shortcuts button isn’t in the current Google app version yet, but it should be available soon since it’s already functioning well. We’ll keep you posted when it rolls out to everyone.
