Easy research now on Android with Gemini App

The Gemini app for Android now includes a new feature called “Easy Research.” This tool was first introduced on the web back in December, and it’s now available for your smartphone.

With “Easy Research,” you can ask long, detailed questions. Google then gives you a step-by-step plan you can tweak to your liking. Once you hit “Begin Research,” the app starts working, digging through the internet, checking various sites, and even doing new searches based on what it finds. This can take about 5 to 10 minutes, or longer if the topic is really complex.

After it’s done, you get a neat report with different sections, and all the sources are listed at the end. The look of the app on your phone is pretty much the same as before, but now you can send your report straight to Google Docs. Note that uploading files or using Gemini Live isn’t available with this feature. You can leave the app while it works, and you’ll get a notification when your research is ready. This is all powered by Gemini 1.5 Pro.

Google had mentioned that “Easy Research” would come to Android when they talked about other updates like “Talk Live,” multi-extension prompts, and the new “Circle to Search” design. They first showed off this feature in August at the 2024 Made by Google event, and it officially started in December.

There are some rules about how often you can use “Easy Research.” The app will tell you how many more research requests you can make each day if you’re running low. As of this Tuesday morning, “Easy Research” is now available on many Android devices, but not on iOS yet. You’ll need a Gemini Advanced subscription to use it. This comes right after the 2.0 Flash update was rolled out to the mobile app.

So, if you’re looking to dive deep into any topic right from your Android phone, “Easy Research” with Gemini is here to help.
