Gemini app now opens keyboard automatically on Android

Google has made a small update to the Gemini app for Android users. Now, when you open the app, your keyboard will pop up right away, ready for you to type your question or message.

The main screen of Gemini is pretty simple, just showing a greeting. With this new update, you can start typing immediately without any extra clicks. The options for voice input or starting a live conversation with Gemini are still there, just a bit higher up on the screen. You can also find the menu for chats, settings, and switching between different modes at the top.

This change makes using the app smoother because typing is often why people open Gemini. If you prefer voice commands, you can still use them by holding down the power button on your phone or swiping from the corner of your screen to bring up Gemini.

This handy feature is currently rolling out in the newest beta version of the Google app, version 16.4.36. It hasn’t reached the regular version yet, so if you want to try it out, you might need to join the beta testing program.

Another neat addition is when you upload images or PDF files, you’ll see a new option called “Talk Live about this” above the “Ask Gemini” box. This gives you another way to interact with the app, similar to using the Gemini overlay but directly from the document or image you’re viewing.

Overall, these updates make the Gemini app more user-friendly and efficient, keeping everything you need right at your fingertips.
