New features for your digital Wallet

Google Wallet on Android is now making it simpler for users to get the latest updates on their loyalty cards. When I checked my Google Wallet this morning, I noticed my CVS membership card had moved up in the list, just below the main display. I added this card way back during the Google Pay days.

Enhancing Your Loyalty Cards

There’s a new “Upgrade now” tag on my CVS card. Below the usual barcode, there’s a message saying you can now get updates, special offers, and direct messages.

The “Upgrade your card” screen lists the benefits you’ll enjoy:

  • Automatic updates on points and rewards
  • Linked offers or coupons
  • Direct messages from CVS

By clicking the “Upgrade” button at the bottom, you’re taken to the CVS site to complete the upgrade process. Back in October, Google announced in their Play Services update that you’d soon be able to enhance your passes in Google Wallet. This new feature scans through your old, static passes to see which ones can be brought up to date. This means you don’t have to hunt through menus to find the “Add to Wallet” option anymore.

Even if you decide to ignore the upgrade notification initially, you can always come back to it through the three-dot menu. With these updates, managing your loyalty cards just got a whole lot easier.
