New Music features on YouTube for TV viewers

YouTube has rolled out some cool new features for music lovers who enjoy watching videos on their TVs. Now, you can enhance your music experience with special “Display” options that make listening to songs more fun and interactive.

When you’re watching a music video, you’ll spot a new “Display” button right between the “Thumbs Down” and “Save” options. Clicking this button will give you a few choices on how you want the screen to look while your music plays.

First up, there’s the “Video” option, which is just your regular music video playback. But if you’re more into the lyrics, you can choose “Lyrics,” which will show the words of the song scrolling live on the left side of your screen, just like in the YouTube Music app. It’s perfect for singing along or learning new songs.

For those who like a bit of visual art with their tunes, there’s the “Artwork” choice. This will display the album cover art in the center of your screen with a cool, blurred color background, and underneath, you’ll see the song title and artist name.

These Display options don’t just work for one song; they stick around for all your tunes, making it easy to switch between watching videos, reading lyrics, or just enjoying the artwork as you go through your playlist. You can find these features by starting a song from the YouTube Music tab or the home screen app shortcut on your TV. This update really makes for a relaxed, lean-back music experience on bigger screens.

This new functionality is available starting with version 5.22+ of YouTube for Android TV, and it’s also popping up on other smart TV platforms. So, next time you’re ready to kick back with some music, your TV viewing experience just got a whole lot better.
