Google Photos slideshows headed to more devices

Google is making it easier to enjoy your favorite memories on a wider range of screens. The company plans to bring its Google Photos slideshow feature—already loved on devices like Nest Hub, Chromecast, and Google TV—to more “eligible” gadgets made by other brands.

In a quick update shared today, Google said, “We’re growing the list of devices that can show your photo albums as a slideshow on their idle or background screens.” The new devices that will soon support this feature include smart TVs, tablets, fridges, and photo frames.

These join the lineup of devices that already work with Google Photos slideshows, such as Google TV, Android TV, Chromecast, Pixel Tablet, Nest Hub, and Nest Hub Max. On those gadgets, you can set up and manage slideshows using the Google Photos app (under Settings > Apps & devices > Photo frames) or the Google Home app.

This update means third-party devices could soon offer a similar photo-viewing experience. Some smart fridges already let you display Google Photos, and adding this feature to non-Google smart TVs and standalone photo frames feels like a smart move—especially since photo frames are a hit with so many people.

For now, Google isn’t sharing spthe ecific names of the new devices or when these updates will roll out. But this expansion promises to make it simpler to see your cherished moments on more screens around your home. Whether it’s a fridge showing family pics or a photo frame cycling through vacation shots, Google Photos is finding new ways to keep your memories close.
