Google Messages gets a simple search update
Google Messages already has a solid search feature that lets you sort through your texts using various options. Now, it seems Google is planning a small update to look better in a future version of the app.
We explored the latest Google Messages beta (version messages.android_20250218_01_RC00.phone.openbeta_dynamic) and found some small tweaks to the search design. We even managed to turn on this new look. The first row of pictures shows how it looks now, while the second row shows the updated version.
One clear change is the search filter page. The filter buttons are bigger and split into two rows instead of one. Also, each search result now stands out more with a card-style design that separates them. Plus, the link search page has a new bubble-shaped box with soft, rounded edges, unlike the sharper box it has now. The search bar itself also has a fresh color that’s different from the current one.
These updates aren’t huge, but they give Google Messages a cleaner, more up-to-date feel. The redesigned filter page also uses space smarter, making it easier on the eyes. This isn’t the only news for Google Messages lately. The app recently added a quiet feature letting you send RCS messages to yourself. Plus, we found signs that Google is finally working on letting you delete RCS messages for everyone—something users have wanted for a while.
