Google Voice makes moving your number to business accounts simple

Google Voice is now making it easier to shift personal phone numbers to Google Workspace business accounts, building on its call-sharing feature. This change is designed for Google Workspace users who have added Google Voice Starter, Standard, or Premier plans. It lets them bring a phone number they set up with a personal Google account over to their business Workspace setup. For instance, a solo business owner with a Google Voice number can take it along as their company expands and switches to a Workspace account.

This update offers a “much better way to move a personal Google Voice number to a Google Workspace account.” To do it, just head to voice.google.com, click on Account Settings, and choose “Transfer your number to another Voice account.” You’ll need to type in your personal Google Voice number and the Google Workspace email you want it linked to from now on.

The business admin then simply approves the request by going to Admin console > Apps > Google Workspace > Google Voice > Numbers. “We understand how vital it is for people to keep using a familiar phone number and make sure it stays tied to them when they switch to a Google Workspace business account,” Google says. “Once the admin says yes, your number will move over right away. Until then, you can keep using it with your current account.” This feature is starting to roll out today and will be ready for everyone in the next few days.
